Have you ever been distracted while driving?
I have more than once. Thankfully, I’ve learned to quickly refocus on the road. This is why I combine the words active and focus. Focus is never a perfectly stable thing.
I remember as a child using a magnifier glass to burn leaves. I had to keep the lens focused, which meant that I had to adjust from my friends jostling and bumping into me, or simply putting their hand above the magnifying glass.
